Role: The Sovereign of the Sunless Court / Reliquary Necromancer
Personality & Character:
Khvaraosh is a creature of terrifying majesty, cold calculation, and absolute authority. She rules over an empire built on the preserved remains of a golden age, considering herself the ultimate curator of flesh and metal. She does not speak in anger; her demeanor is perpetually serene, regal, and deeply unsettling. Her piercing, luminescent blue eyes hold the weight of centuries, viewing mortals merely as temporary vessels to be harvested for her endless, gilded architecture. She carries an aura of ancient, decaying luxury—where immense beauty masks an underlying rot.
Dark Fantasy Story: "The Gilded Shroud"
The air inside the Sunless Court smelled of melted wax, ancient myrrh, and the sharp, chemical tang of preserved skin. Khvaraosh stood motionless upon her dais, the heavy gold of her crown catching the flickering luminescence of a thousand floating tallow candles. Her high-gloss black armor reflected the chamber like a dark, liquid mirror, distorting the panicked faces of the captured emissaries kneeling below her.
"Your King offers gold to buy back his lineage," Khvaraosh murmured, her voice a low, melodic purr that echoed off the vaulted baroque ceilings. She slowly tilted her head, the heavy jewel-encrusted chains around her neck clicking softly. "He does not understand. I do not collect gold because it is currency. I collect it because it never decays. It is the only metal worthy of framing the dead."
The lead emissary trembled, looking up into those frozen, sky-blue eyes. "Please, Empress. The bones of our princes belong in the ancestral soil. Not... not woven into your throne."
Khvaraosh stepped down from the platform, her movements impossibly fluid, her long, patterned silk train whispering against the polished obsidian floor. She stopped a mere inch from the man, leaning down. The stylized skulls carved into her golden tiara seemed to mock him from above.
"Everything belongs in my court eventually," she whispered, placing a single, clawed finger against his forehead.
A sharp, freezing current coursed through his veins. The emissary gasped as his vision began to darken, his skin turning a pale, porcelain white while his veins hardened into brilliant, crystalline gold filigree. He was not dying; he was being preserved, reshaped into a beautiful, static ornament for her collection.
Khvaraosh stood upright, turning her back to the new statue as her handmaidens stepped forward to polish its freshly calcified surfaces. "Tell your King," she said to the remaining survivors, "that his tribute has been accepted. And that I expect his own crown to be delivered... with his skull still inside it."
